# Privacy and redaction overview

> How Operata handles privacy and redaction — what runs at the edge, what you control, and where to configure it.

Operata redacts at the edge of your environment before contact data leaves for Operata. This section maps the privacy model, defines personally identifiable information (PII) in the context of what Operata collects, and lists the configuration entry points for each data source.
